FAQs

What types of sleep training methods do you use?

We use a range of sleep shaping and training methods. For our newborn families we focus on sleep shaping and use more gradual and gentle methods. For older babies and children who are sleep training, we listen to each family’s parenting philosophies and level to which they can handle their child protesting/crying. With that information, we suggest 2 different sleep training methods. We want each family to pick a method that they feel comfortable and confident implementing, and that they will stay 100% consistent with.

Do you use cry it out?

We have never used cry it out (known as extinction) with a family. It is not a method we would recommend initially. However, there is a very small percentage of children that may truly need full extinction to have sleep training fully work. But we would cross that bridge after we had exhausted using other methods, and we have never reached that point in over a year of supporting families.

Will this actually work?

In over a year of supporting families, we have never had a family stick to the plan and not reach their goals. Therefore, we have a 100% success rate. We will provide all the knowledge, tools, and support to help you reach your goals, but we cannot implement the plan for you. Similar to how a fitness or health coach will support you but can’t actually lose weight or gain muscle for you!

When can you start working on/improving sleep?

We start with newborns at 4 weeks old! We personally think the first month of life is a big adjustment period. During those weeks, we say focus on keeping your baby fed, soaking up cuddles, and being okay operating in “survival mode.” We feel the earliest parents can feel ready to work on sleep is at the 4 week mark. However, you can absolutely work on sleep on your own before that if you choose!

When is the best age to sleep train?

It’s up to you and your family! It will never feel like the “perfect” time, but when you feel 70-80% ready, we think that’s a good time to get started. We’re here to support you through the process whether your child is 4 weeks, or 3 years!

Do you offer other programs?

Our all inclusive programs are the best support we offer to reach your child’s initial sleep goals, and the follow up support will keep sleep on track. If you’re looking for sleep consulting services at a different budget, email us at hello@littlelovesconsulting.com with what you are looking for, and what your budget is. We will see if we have a program offering that fits your needs!

My child goes to Grandma’s house / daycare / nanny share.. How will this work?

We have worked with ALL types of child care situations, we can absolutely still sleep train your child even if they have a different caretaker during the day. For nanny/grandparent situations, the best case scenario is we get those people on board with sleep training too so they can continue the progress. But if they are unwilling to get on board, or if your child goes to a daycare center, we will give some “minimum” guidelines we’d like them to follow. We’ve never had an issue with people not being willing to meet those minimum guidelines.
